his week I played around with milk, oil and acrylic paint to capture these bubble photos.

The Challenge

Opposites attract! Complementary Colors are colours that sit opposite each other in a color wheel. The important thing about Complementary Colors  - or Complementary Contrast - is the fact that they intensify each other. Red and Green, Orange and Blue, Yellow and Purple are Complementary and used together they have their brightest intensity, so they really pop! That is why, in photography, we’re looking for Complementary Colors and that is this week’s challenge.

So for this challenge you consult a color wheel (the RYB model that we prefer) and chose your pair of colors. It doesn’t have to be the ones mentioned above, it can be any color and it's opposite in the wheel you showcase. Use the color coding website , find the exact opposite of your chosen color and ensure they complement (enhance) each other in your shot. This way, you'll make your colors pop.

Find the story, the feeling, the mood your chosen colors invoke. Complementary Colors can be all about harmony, but they can also provide a lot of tension or aggression, even. Explore the correlation between your chosen colors. How does that make you feel?
